My Friend in Phoenix

used cars image photo
One of my dearest friends lives in Phoenix Arizona, and she is like me where she never complains about how hot it is!! We always got along well, because we seemed to always be cold.

Anyway, she called me a few weeks ago to say that her car had just died and she didn't know how on earth she would be able to get another one. She would have to be looking for Used Cars, and pretty quickly, too! You see, her ex-husband had ruined her credit pretty badly during their marriage, and after the marriage ended, she found out that all the cards they held jointly, put her in a credit shambles. She seemed so distraught, not over her marriage being over, but because her credit rating now stunk, and with her needing a new vehicle to get to work, she didn't know what she would do?

She called last week to say that she is sure she is getting a car now, thanks to a great company called Drive Time. This is a company located in Phoenix (and around Arizona) that offers their own financing and is geared towards people with less than wonderful credit.

She said this was like a godsend for her, when she found them, they offer competitive rates and she took the instant online approval thing on their website, and as long as she has a job that they can verify, she will qualify!! How great does that sound?? I am so happy for her!! She really needs this car, and it is nice to know that there are some dealers out there who will help someone out, even if their credit rating isn't good. This was not her fault, so to be penalized by every lender who thinks she is a credit risk, is just not fair. Thank goodness she found DriveTime, and it seems like it was just in the nick of time too!!

Money for Christmas?

Posted by KAT Tuesday, November 24, 2009 29 comments

20 dollar bill imageHow are you dealing with the current economic crisis and having enough money for Christmas this year?

There are a lot of people out there that think they may not have money to buy Christmas presents, or to even have a Christmas dinner, but there are some easy ways to make some money for this holiday season.

Have you thought about payday loans? They are a quick solution to get some extra cash when you need it. It is like an advance on your next paycheck, and sometimes you can pay off the loan in installments, which makes it easier on your wallet, especially around the holidays. We all could use a boost on certain weeks, and this just might be your answer.

Another way to make some quick money for the holidays is to sell some of your unwanted stuff. There are places online where you can sell just about anything, and if it is just laying around, gathering dust, why not let someone else utilize it? And in the process, you will bring in some cash for your things that you can spend on presents that will be put to good use.

You can have a garage or a yard sale, again, selling off your things that are no longer needed. Although, this isn't exactly yard sale season, there are some collectors out there who search for the unusual garage or yard sale at this time of the year. Maybe some of your neighbors would join you and you could have a neighborhood sale?

Then there is the part time jobs that are available only for the holiday season. You will only be hired prior to the holiday, but that just might be enough to raise some of that dough you are needing. Some companies that can be found in the classified ads ask for people to demonstrate their goods in a store, you have probably seen them in the supermarket or Walmart? These companies hire you to give out samples and/or coupons for their products, and in return, you will get paid to do this. It is usually not a steady job, but again, it just might be enough to get you what you need.

And lastly, there is blogging for money. There are a lot of bloggers out there that post articles on their blogs to help endorse a company, or companies, and in return, you will get paid for writing that article and helping to drive traffic to the company website. Most companies pay within 30 days, so if you are thinking of this option, you need to get cracking to raise that money before Christmas comes!!

I hope this has given you some ideas on how you can maybe raise some money for the holidays this year.
Till next time,
Take care,
Kat

GE front load washing machine image
Oh my gosh! Now my washing machine has gone on the fritz. This has not been a good year for me, let me tell you. First it was the broken heater, then the computer that had to be replaced, lots of small things in between and now it is the washing machine!

Now I have to go look at washing machines this weekend to try to replace this broken one. I am going to do a lot of comparison shopping, but something tells me that I might find the best deal at Sam's Club, as usual. They have some gorgeous front load washers, and they are reasonably priced. I know because I have looked at them before when I was just dreaming about a new washer and didn't actually need one. A sort of window shopping, put it on the wish list kind of thing. But now, I really need to get one. I love the one I posted a picture of above, mostly because it is my favorite color of red, and also because it is a front loader, and I have never had that before. I still have the old fashioned lid that opens on the top thing. This one looks so much more stylish, don't you think?

I also have to consider space when I am getting my new washer and might have to go with one of those compact washing machines. I don't have a big house, and have thought about getting an apartment sized set to try to save space. I will have to look around, like I said, and weigh all the options first.

Oh well,
Till Next Time,
Take care,
Kat

Surfing in November?

Posted by KAT Friday, November 6, 2009 166 comments

While I was driving home from work tonight, I was behind a truck that had 2 surfboards strapped to the roof.....

Who goes surfing on Cape Cod in November?

It was about 40 degrees here today, definitely not warm enough for surfing!!
I wondered who they were, and where they were coming from, to have surfboards on their truck??

The didn't have an out of state license plate, because then maybe that might have explained some of it.....

But seriously......
Who goes surfing around here in November???

Weird!!!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Image photo picture This is a snippet from the magazine photo shoot that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart did for Harper's Bazaar.

Damn! They are HOT!

I have added a video of the photo shoot for you to see, and please feel free to drool if you want to......I did....LOL

This was done to promote the movie "New Moon" and it's upcoming release on November 20th. I am so excited and can hardly wait. Although they aren't dressed in their typical movie attire, I kind of like this glam look that they have going on. Especially Kristen, she rocks the glam look!

But personally, I will always be focused on Rob.....I can't help it, and these photos don't make it any easier!!

Do you need a Web Host?

Posted by KAT Tuesday, October 20, 2009 0 comments

I've said it before and I will say it again, if you are looking for web site hosting, you have got to check out the Web Hosting Geeks site. They offer the best of the best, and offer consumer reviews of many different sites, and the ratings that we, the average customer have given the hosting sites, along with their own reviews and ratings.

If you are seriously thinking about switching to a hosted blog so you can have your own .COM, then this is the place to go to check out the benefits and the pitfalls of the many different hosting companies out there. Without them you will be lost, and may end up with a cheap web hosting company, but one that doesn't fit your needs. You have to consider many different things before switching to a hosted site.

If for example, your site will be loaded with many graphics, you will want to make sure that the hosting company you are going with can handle that, and that the bandwidth will be sufficient for your needs. If you are going to need many pages for your site, you want to make sure that you aren't limited to 1 or 5 pages with the host that you go with.

Also check out the down times of the sites you are considering. Some companies offer a cheaper rate, but their server goes down quite often, making your site unavailable to your viewing public. Sometimes, cheaper is not always better.

You might also want to check out the Web Hosting Geeks blog to see all the content they provide, and all the tips and hints that they give to us. You can check out the different types of web hosting to see what type would be best suited for your site. There is a lot of information to absorb here, but it is good information, and content that you can't get anywhere else.

They also have an awards section where they have listed the best in many categories including, best blog hosting, where they list the best hosting site for blogs, or best e-commerce hosting, where they will tell you the best hosting site for your business. There are many other awards here and you should look them over depending on your needs, to see if that would help you make your decision for a hosting company.

I will always suggest the Web Hosting Geeks website to anyone that I know that is thinking of switching from a free blog or site, to a hosted one. It is the best way to make an informed decision when choosing a web hosting company.

I hope this helps you!

Do You Want to be "Tempted" ?

Posted by KAT Friday, October 16, 2009 4 comments

Tempted book cover imageDo you love Twilight, and/or Vampires? If you do, have you read the "House of Night Series"? This is an amazing series of books written by a mother and daughter team, P.C. and Kristin Cast, and they take on the job of creating a world of teen vampyres and all the problems and angst that they go through.

You can preview a great song and the trailer for Tempted by clicking here.

"Tempted" is the name of the 6th book in the series, and in case you missed the others, or are just looking to start the series from the beginning, they are: Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed, and Hunted. If you have never read any of these books, I will tell you that you are truly missing out!! Although they are written mostly from a teen's perspective, they are really good books. They will keep you engrossed and wanting more!! P.C. and Kristen have created a nice balance of page turning suspense and romantic moments, with battles and just dealing with life.

You can listen to the first chapter of TEMPTED on audio, by clicking here. It is sure to get your curiosity peaked, and you will want to get this book as soon as you can!!

P.C. and Kristin Cast image photo pictureThey were asked how they got to collaborate on these books, and P.C. (the mom) answered, "I've taught high school since 1993, so I have a pretty good handle on teen-speak, but I realized as I was trying to write first person from a sixteen year olds point of view that I was getting stuck on what should have been pretty simple word usage questions. Well, I kept yelling down the hallway from my office to where Kristin was "innocently" (her word!) watching MTV and asking her questions. After I did this several times I decided it was ridiculous! That I should just see if Kristin wanted to co-author with me. She said yes - my agent loved the idea - and we took off from there.
I write the draft and then I send it to Kristin for her rewrite. I often leave her notes in the text as I'm writing, as well as blanks I ask her to fill in. When she gets done I read the manuscript again before sending it off to our editor in New York. It sounds complicated, but it's really not."

The mom of the duo, P.C. Cast, is an award-winning fantasy and paranormal romance author, as well as an experienced speaker and teacher. She lives and teaches in Oklahoma. The daughter, Kristin Cast, has won awards for her poetry and journalism. She also lives in Oklahoma, where she attends the University of Tulsa as a communications major.

You can go to the House of Night Fan page on Facebook Page, by clicking the title, and you can follow them and read all about it, or just join other people in discussing this well anticipated book. Tempted will be released on October 27th, 2009, and the fans are getting rabid!! Everyone is anxious and can hardly wait!!

Will you be one of the "Tempted" ones in line when this book is released??

Tell me,

Injury on The Ruins

Posted by KAT Wednesday, October 14, 2009 6 comments

shavon torres real world road rules challenge the ruins image photo picture
I watched last week's episode of MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins, and Shauvon Torres who is one of the contestants, suffered an injury where she claimed she burst her breast implant after she belly flopped into the water while doing a challenge.

Now, she is not the brightest bulb on the tree, but I felt bad for her because she really looked like she was in pain. And there is always the possibility of injury to the chest after surgery.

She was rushed by ambulance to the hospital for xrays and a CAT scan that revealed she was just badly bruised and had some muscle, tissue and nerve damage in her chest. The doctors advised her to leave the show so that she could recover. She was not going to be able to compete in any more challenges.

"Me being hurt and plunging into the water, I knew I'd done something to my body on the inside," she said. "I couldn't explain what it was, but I knew there was something bad."

So that got me thinking, why do so many women want breast augmentation to enlarge their breasts when they usually don't look natural and there are complications some times?? On the show, so many of the other women were worried after this incident because they have implants too!!

Before I ever did anything like that, I would do a lot of research, and scan the Before and After Photos to see if this is what I really wanted. But to me, I just don't understand the whole concept of the big boobs look?? But it is very common now a days, and women are getting breast augmentation done a lot younger. I guess, to each his or her own!!

A Late Vacation

Posted by KAT 1 comments

Summer is over, but there is still plenty of time to squeeze in a fantastic vacation at one of the Myrtle Beach Resorts in South Carolina. There are some really good deals going on right now and the prices are unbelievable! You could stay in a resort that has a room facing the ocean and wake up to the waves crashing on the sand. How nice does that sound?

My friends stayed in a Myrtle Beach Resort when they vacationed in August and they said it was the best vacation they ever had! From the gorgeous view to the beautiful room overlooking the beach, they said they are definitely going back again next year. And I am going with them this time. I am not going to miss out on all the great sight seeing, and shopping that they did, and I am envious of the beautiful tans they both had when they came back.

They said that they woke up in the morning, had breakfast at the hotel, and then just walked right out to the beach and relaxed in the sun. I have never stayed anywhere that was right on the beach, and I can't remember ever waking up to the sound of the water. Anyway, they said they would tan for a few hours, then go back up to their room and change, and head out to see the sights. They went to some great museums like the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum, and also visited the Ripley's Aquarium and said it was one of the best that they have ever been to. They also went to a great water park that was close by and said that they were like two little kids playing on the slides. I had to laugh at the pictures they brought back, but I really am envious.

I will be looking into Myrtle Beach Hotels so we can go again, and I can get to enjoy all the things that they did. I am getting excited just thinking about it. I can't wait.

phoney lose weight ad image
I saw this ad while visiting blogs today, and I had to laugh my butt off!!

Do they really think that anyone is fooled into thinking that the woman in the top picture and the woman in the bottom picture are the same??

I mean, Come on!!

Not to mention the skin coloring, the belly ring, and the different shaped navel, but really......are we supposed to think that this is the new and improved version??

Sorry, but I am not that dumb!

And I don't know many people that are, that would fall for this advertising.

Maybe that is the reason they kept the faces out of the photos??

Hoping we couldn't tell it wasn't the same woman??

Seriously, still laughing over here...........

A New Television

Posted by KAT Saturday, October 10, 2009 2 comments

I am getting a new television soon, and I can't decide whether to get a High Definition television, or a regular one.

If I go with Direct TV, they offer over 130 channels in high definition and that is something to look forward to. High definition is definitely a better way to view all my favorite programs. I first have to review all the Direct TV Packages that are offered and select the one that will suit my needs the best.

Movies are my thing, and I will certainly be looking for the Direct TV Deals that offer me the most in the movies department. I can't live without my movies, and they offer really good package deals with a lot of the premium movie channels. That is something that I am just not getting right now with my local cable company. The price I pay right now for cable television without any movie prices is higher than the prices of Direct TV Service.

I think I would be a fool to not get my new television with the high definition option, and then I can watch all my favorite shows and my movies in HD. I feel like I am so behind in the times, and that everyone is ahead of me with the HD TV and the huge screens. I am still watching a 19 inch old tv, and that is why is is time for me to upgrade!!

I deserve it...

How Do You Shop Online?

Posted by KAT Sunday, October 4, 2009 1 comments

If you are like me, you are looking for the best value for your money, and you don't want to spend all day looking for items or comparing prices by going back and forth to loads of different websites. That is the reason that I always use shopwiki.com for my online shopping, no matter what it is that I am looking for. They do all the searching and comparisons for me, and list it all on one site for me to go to.

Here, you can find all the sales from all the online stores in one place, with all the prices shown, so you can do your comparison right there and then. No more having 15 different windows open at once, this is just one place, one window.

When I needed a Holiday evening dress, I went there and I couldn't believe the selections that they had listed. I had more choices online than I did at the local mall. And I did find what I was looking for although I had something completely different in mind when I logged on!! But the choices were awesome!! And the prices listed right there helped me tremendously in choosing the right cocktail dress for the party.

My daughter also uses this site, because she is a designer label dresser, meaning she wants to always have a designer outfit on. She loves the Calvin Klein and the Michael Kors styles, and usually shops for the best sales online. She has been able to get many different styles and designers pieces for a song, by just hitting the sales right. And the good thing is that she can usually find things in her size, she wears petite outfits most of the time.

Me? I'm just happy to get anything on sale, and I can usually find complete outfits that will mix and match with other things that I have in my closet. This helps in the cost department. You want to find outfits that mix and match so that you can get the most out of every outfit that you purchase. That fuchsia blazer might be calling your name, but if it doesn't match anything in your closet, you won't have anything to wear it with? So even if it is a great deal, you won't end up wearing it, so why would you purchase it?

If you do your clothing shopping online, or for that fact, any shopping online, please check out the site I use, shopwiki.com and save yourself some time and money. I love how they have appliances and furniture and bedding and dishes and so many more things listed, that there really isn't anywhere else you would need to go?

Till next time,
Kat

Is anyone else out there addicted to these farm games on Facebook, like I am?
I have never owned a farm, nor have I have ever lived on one, but ever since I was roped into getting a farm (then a different one) on here, I worry about my crops and harvesting and everything!!

I calculate what I think the best buy for my money is when trying to decide what crops to plant, and what they will bring in when I harvest. Then I plant them, and wait for them to grow. Then if for some reason I can't get to harvest the crops in time, they die and wither away to nothing, and all that (fake) money has been wasted, and I feel terrible!!

LOL, now I know it is a game, but I really have come to care for my farms, and the animals I have on them, and yes, even the crops.

Is anyone else out there like this??

Let me know....

Awarding the Best

Posted by KAT Saturday, October 3, 2009 22 comments

When I used to help out at the school, they were very good about giving out trophies to the students who excelled in the school sports. Now, with the cutbacks that they have in the local schools I don't know if my grandson will be able to get any trophies or awards for the things he participates in?

I remember how it was a big deal for the students to have that honorary awards dinner, and have their name called out for one of the Volleyball Trophies that was being given away in honor of a great season and a winning team!! Even if they didn't come in first place, the school would give them a trophy to show appreciation for a job well done, and a commitment to the team.

The boys would be very excited to receive one of the coveted Wrestling Trophies, because they were few and far between. So, if your name was called for a wrestling trophy, it gave you status in the school. Plus, you had the bragging rights until next year's awards banquet.

Our local soccer team was very good, and every year they were in the championships and the highlight of the awards banquet was always the passing out of the soccer trophies. If you were lucky enough to make the team, chances were pretty good that you were going to get a trophy and possibly a plaque too!

It is sad to see the cutbacks, and think that my grandson might not be able to have that joy on his face, like I saw so many times when the kids would go up to the podium to get their award. I am going to ask at the school and see if we can do a fundraiser to raise money for trophies and plaques for these kids. It encourages them and gives them something to look forward to. The incentive is huge for a young child to think that if he does a good job, he will get a trophy to keep in his room forever and ever.

Let's reward our kids for doing the best job they can do!!
Till next time,

It seems like every time that I have to go out, I take my life in my hands on the roads around here!! We have such stupid people on the roads, doing stupid things that have put the breaks in my truck to very good use!!

No wonder there are so many accidents in this area, and the Hospital in town is always full, we have people that decide at the last minute to cross 4 lanes of traffic to pull into Walmart or McDonald's!! Or then we have the people that forget that their car came equipped with a turn signal, and just decide to turn at the last minute, no warning!!

Or then we have the people on cell phones who slow down, then speed up, and look around while they are driving!!

With the construction we have going on around here, we don't need the added stupidity of these people.

For once, I would like to run out to get milk, and not have to slam on my breaks, just because some bozo decides he needs gas right now and then slams on his breaks to make the turn. Or the ones that decide they think they have enough room to cut in front of you, when they don't!!

Ok, enough ranting....
Take care, safe driving....

We've Joined Jack's Quest for Halloween!

Posted by KAT Tuesday, September 29, 2009 4 comments

Cruella DeVille and Boogeyman WWE Halloween costumes image photo pictureHalloween is our most favorite holiday of the year, even beating out Christmas, and that is unusual for most people. But we love Halloween and go all out every year, with the costumes and the decorations!! People actually come from all around to see my daughter's house decorations every year!! She hangs bodies from trees, and has ghosts dangling that look like they are flying, and eerie lights and signs, and even some window decorations too. It really is a whole adventure!

We usually create the costumes, but sometimes we use some store bought stuff too. You can Buy Halloween Costumes Online or in a Halloween Store Near You and have your own adventure this coming Halloween!! Or if you have pictures from a past halloween, why not join Jack's Quest by entering your pictures and being in the running for a chance to win a contest? You can enter either pictures, video or a story and have people vote for them.

I did it....and I need your votes!! This is my daughter dressed as Cruella DeVille from 101 dalmations, and my grandson dressed as the Boogeyman from WWE wrestling. As you can see he has a mask on, and a fake bleeding heart hanging around his neck, but that is all that was bought for the costume, everything else was made. We have a blast every year, and it brings us closer together too! I made the cane out of a branch that I wrapped in duct tape, and the feather like things he is wearing are really ponytail holders made out of fake hair.

Halloween Cruella DeVille and Boogeyman image photo pictureIf you love Halloween as much as we do, would you please consider clicking on the banner below and voting for us?? We need your votes!! And tell your friends to vote for Kat too!!
I would appreciate it very much!!

Halloween Adventure - Jacks Quest

This banner will bring you to my page, with 2 pics on it, if you scroll down, you will see my pic on the left, and then in the middle bottom, you will see the 2 halloween pics, and there is a small hand in the lower left box of each pic that says "vote here". You click on that and then the it counts your vote, and brings the pic up big on the left and says "Does this look like an adventure to you?" and I clicked again, and it registered another vote!! YAY!! Then it says you can come back in 24 hours to vote again.....
I hope that explains it, and now maybe your votes will be counted. It doesn't say you have to register, but let me know if that isn't true, so I can alter this post again. Please?

Thank you so much again,
Take care,
And happy haunting.....

Just look at that face???
I love Panda bears, and wanted to share this with you!!

After reading so many helpful comments and ideas, I think now I have to clean out my windows registry. My computer is still running really slow, and I am sure I have broken files and incomplete files. Someone told me that using a registry cleaner would solve a lot of my problems?

I have looked at the registry myself, and it is all Greek to me? I am going to try to use the free registry cleaner and scan my computer and see if that helps? I am sure that there are a lot of errors that the scan will find, and I think it will be better to leave the fixing and correcting to someone who knows what to do and how to fix it.

My computer still freezes from time to time, and this is one of the hints that maybe there are errors that need to be corrected? I have read the testimonials from other users, and it looks promising. This registry fix seems to have helped many others with their computer problems, and to speed up their computers. It should help with the upload time when I first turn on my computer and the shut down time too.

I am ready to try anything at this point. Other than getting a new computer, I think this might be my best option.

Wish me luck!

My Dad and a Pair of Stockings!

Posted by KAT Thursday, September 24, 2009 64 comments

Have you or someone you know been prescribed medical or support stockings?
I remember when my Dad was told he had to wear support stockings, and him being a big, strong, Italian Man, said there was absolutely no way "He" was wearing stockings!! He was very adamant about it too! It took a lot of convincing to talk him into wearing them for his own good.

His doctor told him that he needed to wear them to help the blood flow through his veins easier after surgery, and the tightness of the stockings would help the blood flow back to his heart without pooling in the legs. Now, my dad was still very against this, and he even made me go in to pick them up, so the people wouldn't see him picking them up. I have to laugh at this memory, because he was so embarrassed at a man having to wear support hose.

As you know, I work in the medical field, and I told him repeatedly, that there are thousands of people who are wearing them right now, and that he would never know, because it isn't like a sling where you wear it on the outside, the stockings are underneath your pants, and they are made to look like a pair of socks, only his would be a bit longer, going up above the knee, but who would see them?

Men and women wear them for many reasons, including, but not limited to: minor swelling (or edema) in the legs, feet or ankles , superficial thrombophlebitis, spider veins, leg cramps or fatigue, and tired aching legs.

These medical stockings are also prescribed for many pregnant women because it helps with the fluid build up and blood flow while pregnant. The compression of the stockings is believed to increase the pressure in the tissues beneath the skin and reduces and helps prevent swelling.

If you or a loved one is told that they have to wear surgical stockings, just remember this story, and let them know that it is good for them, in more ways than they will ever know!

The Lord Works in Mysterious Ways...

Posted by KAT Wednesday, September 23, 2009 1 comments

This is a great little story that I found, that I wanted to share with you....I was amazed when I read it.....

On a Saturday night, a pastor was working late, and decided to call his wife before he left for home.. It was about 10:00 PM, but when he called, his wife didn't answer the phone.

The pastor let the phone ring many times. He thought it was odd that she didn't answer, but decided to wrap up a few things and try again in a few minutes.. When he tried again she answered right away. He asked her why she hadn't answered before, and she said that it hadn't rung at their house. They brushed it off as a fluke and went on their merry ways.

The following Monday, the pastor received a call at the church office, which was the phone that he'd used that Saturday night. The man that he spoke with wanted to know why he'd called him on Saturday night.

The pastor couldn't figure out what the man was talking about. Then the man said, 'It rang and rang, but I didn't answer.' The pastor remembered the mishap and apologized for disturbing him, explaining that he'd intended to call his wife and must have dialed the number wrong.

The man said, 'That's, OK. Let me tell you my story.

You see, I was planning to commit suicide on Saturday night, but before I did, I prayed, 'God if you're there, and you don't want me to do this, give me a sign now..' At that point my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller ID, and it said, 'Almighty God'. I was afraid to answer!'

The reason that it showed on the man's caller ID that the call came from 'Almighty God' is because the church that the pastor attends is called Almighty God Tabernacle!!

Ok, are you amazed like me??

Looking for Something Local

Posted by KAT Tuesday, September 22, 2009 0 comments

Whenever I need to find something, whether it be a store or a restaurant or lately a computer repair place, the first place I go to is Local.com. This is where I find all the information that I need relating to local restaurants when we are looking for someplace new to go out to eat.

I like to try different places, so I do a local search for restaurants in Sandwich Massachusetts and go through the list of different places that are available to dine in. I also like the fact that there are customer reviews for me to look at and this can help me to make my mind up about a certain restaurant too. I have left my own reviews on some places, in hopes that others will find this tool as useful as I do.

Local.com is a search engine that is a compilation of the best of the other ones, including, Yellowpages.com, Superpages.com, Citysearch.com and Yelp.com. Why would I go to any of those when I can have a combination of all them right here? This is better than my local yellowpages. I can get the hours of business and driving directions right here. My phone book doesn't offer that. I never go to the phone book anymore, it seems so archaic. It doesn't let you do any research on anything you are looking up, you have to make a phone call, sometimes only to find out that the place you were wanting isn't what you really wanted.

They have quite a few computer repair places in Sandwich, and I have used one of them before, but the good thing is I have more options by going here and searching. There are other choices for me to pick from, and maybe I will have to give one of them a try?

So if you want to search for computer repair or local restaurants in your own area, try local.com and see if it doesn't provide you with all the information you need, and then some?

Take care,
Kat

I did find the above trojan virus thing though: this is after I installed Avast, and while just doing what I normally do.....

Then this warning popped up, and I aborted like I should, and then within the course of an hour, 2 more popped up??

Fish for a Birthday?

Posted by KAT Friday, September 18, 2009 1 comments

saltwater fish image
My grandson Marcus is asking for fish tank for his birthday, which is coming up next weekend. I would love to get him a saltwater fish tank, because the fish that can be in saltwater tanks are so beautiful! Now, he may not want beautiful fish, but there are other fish too. They are unusual, and not what you are used to seeing in fresh water fish tanks. There are clown fish, like Nemo was, and eels, and I think he would like those.

I think we will get him one of those Reef aquariums that are very popular and look fantastic. It will be like a dream come true if he gets one of those. I can imagine him and the expression on his face when he sees all the exotic fish and the live coral floating in the tank. I think that the live coral will be a big hit, the colors are so vibrant and cool. There are very specific procedures when getting new coral and inserting it into the tank. You have to make sure your bring the temperature of the shipping water up to the temperature of your tank water, before putting the coral into your tank, and another important thing is to make sure the lights are off and stay off for at least 3 hours, then slowly introduce the light for short periods of time. The thing to remember is that this coral is alive, and can die from shock if these steps are not followed.

We will also have to get some decorations for the bottom of the tank. There are all sorts of pirate things to get, or skeletons, he likes stuff like that, so that is the way the tank will go.

I have a feeling that in the beginning, he will take care of the fish and the tank, but soon enough, his Mom will be the one doing it all. But then isn't that the way it is?? I remember when my daughter was younger, every single pet, including the fish, after much begging and promises of "I really will take care of it!", eventually became my pets and I looked after them. So, payback time....She will have to take care of the saltwater fish and tank and she will know how sweet it is!

Take care,
Kat

Okay....
What is up with this....????

He looks ridiculous, and like he has a bunch of balloons under his skin.
Why would anyone do this to themselves?
And why would anyone think this looks good??
And how does he get dressed? And what does he wear??
Can his arms even move in? LOL

In fact, I am sure he has a smaller waist than me, and that just isn't right!

Gold, the NEW Girl's Best Friend...

Posted by KAT Tuesday, September 15, 2009 3 comments

What is better than diamonds as an investment? Gold of course!! This is the new hottest thing around, and if you haven't been looking to purchase gold as an investment for your future, you could be missing out! Diamonds are not the thing to make you happy, ask for gold!

There is something to be said about investing right now in gold, and you can purchase gold bullion as a way to make your future a little easier. This is a very hot commodity right now, and everyone is investing in it because they know that the price of gold will never drop as drastically as some of the other investments they may have purchased in the past. Stocks, bonds and CD's are not as secure an investment as if you purchase bullion. The price really doesn't fluctuate that much with gold, as it has been around for centuries, and now is the time to buy!

We have all seen the ads on TV offering huge amounts of cash for your gold, right? Well, what they aren't telling you is that if you hold onto it, it is increasing in value, even as I write this! They will make a huge profit off your gold, and you will think you got a good deal, until you see that if you had only had the foresight to purchase gold coins, your investment would go up and up, and you would be making the profit!!

They are evidently talking about gold and the early beginnings of gold, and the gold rush, and the investing part of it in school, because my grandson came over and told me he is going to use his allowance to purchase gold coin. When I asked him why, he said that the teacher said it would be good for his future, so that is what he wants to do. He asked me to look on the internet to see if we could find some good places that he might be able to get his coins, and I really learned more about gold than I ever knew!! He even said that there was a gold panda coin to commemorate China, and you all know how I LOVE pandas!! So we went and looked at those, and lots of other coins. The fact that my grandson who isn't even 9 yet is thinking about securing his future, really made me take a look at what I had saved. And do you know what? I may just have to buy some gold coins or bullion myself to carry me in my senior years!!

The things you can learn from an 8 year old!! Geesh!

Oh Well,

Bad Credit? No problem...

Posted by KAT Saturday, September 12, 2009 4 comments

If you are like me, you have thought seriously about credit repair in these tough economic times. We have all used our credit cards way too much, and with the economy in the toilet, we need to start thinking of a new way of doing things.

Gone are they days when you could just "throw it on my card" and only pay the minimum each month. The credit card companies have found ways to make that impossible by raising interest rates and lowering your credit limit. The willy nilly days of spending have probably given some of us bad credit, and now we are paying the price for it.

Everyone needs to check their credit report and if there inaccuracies on there, then you need to work hard to fix your credit. This is important in establishing a good line of credit that you may have to use in the near future. There are many mistakes on people's credit report that they may be unaware of, and to fix these is crucial for your credit health.

There is a really good company out there that was founded by attorneys, so they know their stuff. Ovation Credit has helped many people remove the errors on their credit reports and even dispute some of the entries. There are no initial costs, and once you join, you can cancel anytime, there is no long term contract with Ovation. If you need help in getting out of your rut, and repairing your credit, please check out Ovation Credit and see what they can offer you.

Well, that was some twist on Big Brother the other night!! Whew! I think I was just as surprised as Kevin, Jordan and Natalie!

So, all 3 of them will go to the Finale, with Jordan competing with Kevin in the final part of the HOH competition, after beating Natalie (What? Really? I know! ) in the second phase of the competition.

Schemers that they are, Kevin and Natalie lasted longer than Jordan in part one, the log rolling one, and then there were 2, and they kept talking about the second phase being a mental challenge, and that Natalie is so much better at those than Kevin, and that she could easily beat Jordan, so Natalie drops off, leaving Kevin as the winner of the first part of the competition.

Then as it turns out, Jordan beats Natalie by a mile in the second competition, and I thought that when Julie was talking to them, she was gonna cry!! LOL Her voice was all shaky as she talked about not being in control of her fate. And what she doesn't know is that Kevin says he won't take her to the final 2, but that is not the deal they made...Kevin Lies!! They all do, except for Jordan, I think she is the only one who hasn't lied.

So if Jordan beats Kevin in the final phase on Finale night, she wins HOH and decides who she wants sitting with her right then and there. The jury house seems to have turned on Natalie, and they all think Kevin will win it, but I don't think they are expecting Jordan to be there?? And if Jordan wins....I think it's a long shot no matter who she picks???

What do you think??

Argentina is Beautiful this time of Year!

Parque Iguazu waterfall image

Remember the wedding shower that I told you I went to? Well the bride to be, Alana just told us at work today that her Parents in law to be gave them the best gift ever!! They were given tickets for their honeymoon, and the destination is Argentina!! Woo Hoo! Who doesn't want to go to Argentina at this time of the year?? It is absolutely stunning down there in the fall!

They are pre-booked with some awesome Argentina Tours, that will take them to the capital city of Buenos Aires which is beautiful and cultural too. The city has everything they will need there from shopping to nightlife. There are the local crafts that Alana can't wait to see too. There are many fine Argentina Hotels that they can stay in, and the girls at work were giving her some suggestions for some really great Hotels in Buenos Aires, seeing as though at least 3 of them have been to Argentina.

Buenos Aires imageShe is really excited and was doing some research on the internet about Argentina Travel to see where else they could go while they are down there. There is the beautiful Parque Iguazu with it's luxurious waterfalls, that just about take your breath away. There are so many different sites to visit there too, that they could have a different waterfall picture for each place they visit. Just look at that picture above, isn't it one of the most beautiful waterfalls you have seen??

She is also looking at the Hotels in El Calafate because her future inlaws told them that they must go to El Calafate when they go! They said it is a must see for everyone. So they are definitely planning on going there. They have the most amazing glaciers there in the Los Glaciares National Park, it almost looks like you took a trip to Antartica instead of South America! They have all the seasons in Argentina so you can experience it all in one place.

I think that would be tempting for anyone? Don't you? I have never been to Argentina, but after having looked on the internet with Alana, it looks beautiful, and will now be on my list of place to go.

I received this in an email, and thought it was funny, so I wanted to share it with all of you.....
Feel free to copy it and show it to your friends!!

When girls don't put out!!

This was written by a guy...it is GREAT!

I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart.

FOR EXAMPLE:

One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventua lly says, 'I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me.'

I said, 'WHAT??!! What was that?!'

So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear...

'You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.'

She responded to my puzzled look by saying, 'Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?'

Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep.

The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take, so I told her we'd just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, 'Lets get a pair for each outfit.'

We went on to the jewellery department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you... She was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis.

I think I threw her for a loop when I said, 'That's fine, honey.' She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally sai d, 'I think this is all Dear, let's go to the cashier.'

I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, 'No honey, I don't feel like it.'

Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, 'WHAT?'

I then said, 'Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.'

And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, 'Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?'

Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either... but at least she knows I'm smarter than her.

Did you hear the news that Ellen DeGeneres is going to replace Paula Abdul on American Idol? Yup! This is big news today!!

Now, musically she can't really offer the singers much advice, but she will have her comedy schtick down pat, and that should help ease some of the contestants nerves. I wonder how Simon Cowell will get along with her??

I know she was a hoot when she guest judged on So You Think You Can Dance, but she also offered some very good criticism too, from a layman's standpoint, which is good, because not all of us are judges that critique every little thing.

So maybe it will be a good thing that she is on American Idol now, she can offer the average person's point of view??

What do you think?

Till Next Time,

Okay, so I was sad last week when Jeff went home, and I was kind of mad, because for some reason my DVR didn't record it?? I was on here as usual, and I had it set up....but for some reason it didn't record, so I didn't know who went home until the next day when I looked it up online.
Then I was sad.

But I caught the update on the following show and they showed a few clips, so I kind of know what happened?? But Kevin is dumb. He sides with Natalie and I really am sick of her.

Michelle went home this week, and that leaves Jordan all by herself against Kevin and Natalie. And poor Jordan has been floating along in the game, mostly thanks to Jeff, and this week because she isn't seen as a threat. Ya think?? Duh!! Jordan is no kind of threat at all, remember when she couldn't tell time?? Jeff was a little astounded that she didn't know what 1/4 past 8 was, for example....she just doesn't get it?? Even my grandson knows how to tell time whatever way it is said, but not Jordan, you have to basically tell her what time it is!! Yah, I don't think she is a threat either. She hasn't won a darn thing, except for Head of Household and that was only because Jeff gave it to her.

So, out of the final 3 that are still there, I don't think any one of them is worthy of the money. And I think the jury house will have a tough time coming up with reasons to give it to any of them. I can only imagine the speeches we will hear on the finale night.

I would have liked to see Jeff or Michelle win the money, so now I don't really care who gets it. I think right now Natalie has the most votes in the jury house, but we will see??

What do you think? Who do you want to see win?? Tell me.....

Till Next Time,
Take care,
Kat

Help me...I need an Upgrade!

Posted by KAT Wednesday, September 9, 2009 2 comments

This is Kat's desktop computer talking, and please don't tell her that I am posting this...
I need to vent and Kat thinks that this is the place to do it, so this is where I will vent too!

I am in desperate need of an upgrade, because I am old and tired and way outdated! But do you think she knows it?? NO... she just keeps adding more and more stuff into my hard drive and I try in vain to keep up with all that she needs, but sometimes, I just feel that I am not good enough. I have been in the shop more times that I would care to admit, to tune me up, to eliminated a virus and to install more memory to help me out. But it all seems like it is in vain, because I just can't fulfill her needs any longer without some help.

I have tried to give her subtle hints to show her that I need an upgrade, or that she needs someone better than me, like for example, I shut down her browser in the middle of her working, to send her the hint that maybe there are too many tabs open, or that maybe she is doing just a little too much for me to handle right now. But all she does is reboot me and start over again after huffing and puffing and I will let you in on a secret too, Kat says many bad words when she sits in front of me!! She can swear like the dickens!

Now, I have been here with Kat for over 5 years and in computer years (sort of like dog years) that is well over the time that I was made for! In fact, when she first took me home from the store, I was already outdated. Can you believe it?? Me, outdated? But yes, the sad truth is that my kind are only good for a few years and there is always someone more powerful, with more RAM and faster speeds and more bells and whistles than I care to admit.

What she needs to do is to get a brand spanking new HP computer that will fulfill all her needs. She can still keep me as a back up to play her games, or to hold her files, but for her work that she does, she really needs someone with much more to offer her than I can. I am willing to step aside and make room for a newer HP model, because they are the best! I am a little envious of everything that they have that I don't, but the technology just wasn't around when I was created. So I can't fault the new guys for being so much better.

She also could use one of those flat screen monitors, instead of this old huge box thing that I have. I am not streamlined at all. I take up so much room here on her desk. My tower is enormous and the cables everywhere....geeesh! I wish I could be more like the modern guys, but again, I'm old and barely functioning. Yes, she needs to get on over to the HP store and have a look around.

They are also running a special right now that Kat should take advantage of and it is a $30.00 stackable site-wide coupon that is good for $30.00 off on all orders of $150.00 or more at the HP Home Store. Just use the coupon code SV2132 at the time of checkout.

** This coupon is valid through 10/31 or while supplies last. Restrictions and exclusions apply. Please see the HP site for more details.

Whew!! Okay, I think I am done now.
Psssst, if you see Kat, let her know that she needs to upgrade!!
But don't tell her that I told you, deal?

Thanks,
Kat's Computer
